Shards of Minax — Version 0.93​

Version 0.93 is one of the largest foundational updates in Shards of Minax history. Nearly every core system has been rewritten, expanded, or elevated to support deeper character builds, smarter enemies, and long-term progression without hard ceilings.

This isn’t just a patch.

Major Rewrite — NPC & Loot System​

The entire NPC and loot framework has been rebuilt from the ground up.

  • Smarter loot generation

This overhaul allows monsters to feel more purposeful, more dangerous, and more distinct — and opens the door for more advanced encounter mechanics in future updates.


Advancement System Redesign​

The Advancement Gump has been fully redesigned.

  • No more hard caps
  • Clear display of cost for your next upgrade

As you grow stronger, advancement requires more investment — but there is no artificial ceiling stopping your build. Power is now limited only by effort.


New AI Systems — Enemies That Think​

Combat has changed dramatically.

The new AI framework introduces advanced movement behaviors and personality-driven combat styles. Enemies now reposition, kite, retreat, ambush, and coordinate.

The Skirmisher AI​

A true ranged predator — keeps distance, repositions intelligently, and fights like a Diablo succubus.

There are now 3,000 unique Aspect Cores.

Each one:

  • Has a unique name
  • Unique hue
  • Unique mix of proc abilities
Aspect Cores allow you to enchant any equippable item with proc abilities. They transfer their hue and create a progression path for that item.

Use:

  • [aspect on an item → open its progression
  • [aspect on yourself → view all equipped aspects
Aspect Cores and Talismans are earned through Faction systems and dungeon boards.


️ Faction Job Board System​

A fully centralized faction quest system has been implemented.

Every town now has:

  • A Job Board
  • A Reputation Vendor Stone
Monster factions have boards outside their dungeons.

Quest Types​

Reputation is tied directly into XML Monster Factions:

  • Humanoids may treat you differently
  • Undead may respond based on alignment
  • Factions remember your loyalty
When you start:

  • You need 50 reputation to use the board
  • You begin at 0
  • Talk to townsfolk for starter quests
Reputation earns access to:

  • Aspect Cores
  • Aspect Talismans
  • Faction rewards

The Fisherman Follower​

Buy a Fishing Contract and gain your own Fisherman follower.

  • Takes 1 control slot
  • 120 Fishing skill
  • Uses identical PC fishing mechanics
  • Can summon sea serpents in deep water
  • Can fish up rare PC-tier fish
Say:

"go fishing"
They will search for valid fishing spots and fish automatically. Access their inventory like a pack animal.


Lumberjack & ⛏️ Miner Followers​

Also available:

  • Fully autonomous lumberjacks
  • Fully autonomous miners
  • Same rules as players
  • Smart resource searching

Thanks to the incredible work of Zigholtul, Britannia’s primary map has almost doubled in scope! This expanded canvas is filled with new towns, dungeons, secrets, and storylines—bringing your adventures to uncharted heights.

Shards of Minax v87 – The Invasion Begins!​

Welcome, adventurers, to Version 87 of Shards of Minax—our biggest update yet! We've packed this patch with powerful new features, game-changing systems, and a serious upgrade to the world of single-player Ultima. Whether you're a peaceful camper or a war-hardened mage, there's something here for you.

Invasions Evolved​

The Invasion System just got a massive overhaul. Now, the Tension Level decreases naturally over time—500 points every hour and every time an invasion occurs. This gives peace-lovers a chance to catch their breath between sieges... but don't get too comfy.

  • We've added many new invasion types and tiered champions, escalating with tension.
  • At the highest Tension, prepare for the ultimate showdown: Minax herself invades!
  • Minax is no ordinary boss. She teleports across the map, summoning champions and even copies of herself with her twisted time magic. It’s a race against chaos!

Spirit Speak Reimagined​

Calling all Mediums and Summoners! The Summoner's Codex has been added with a deep new tree for the Spirit Speak skill. Invest Maxxia Points to unlock powerful spirit, fae, and elemental summons. This gives summoners a whole new way to build and command magical forces.

60+ Persistent Quest NPCs​

Quests just got personal. We’ve introduced over 60 new persistent NPCs, each with memory of your progress. Finish their quest, and they’ll unlock special shops offering unique decor and gear to show off your accomplishments. That’s 60 new shops, each with a story to tell.

Magic Item Generator Overhaul​

The loot just got legendary. We've reworked the magic item generator, adding dozens of new item types for more variety and more powerful combinations. Gear up like never before.

️ 50+ New Base Weapons​

No skill left behind! Every combat skill now has a unique weapon type:

  • Fishing rods, beggar’s cudgels, even bardic blades
  • Magical wands/staves that use magical components as ammo
  • Alchemists get a chemical thrower powered by Sulphur
Buy them with Achievement Points at the Ultima Store or find them in loot.

️ Camping Gets Cozy​

Your campsite just became your Outpost.

  • High-level campers can now establish permanent Outposts, which act like advanced tents.
  • Share them with friends and recall to any campfire or outpost using the new Camper’s Map.
  • No more carrying tents—once an outpost is built, it’s yours forever.

Magical Quivers​

Meet Legolas, the new vendor of Magical Quivers. These aren't just bags for arrows—they gain levels over time and evolve as you use them. A must-have for archers and magical marksmen alike!

We’re proud to drop Version 86 of Shards of Minax, and this one is absolutely stacked with content. Our mission has always been to push the limits of what a ServUO shard can be—and this update might just be our biggest leap yet. Think Diablo meets Path of Exile, with a splash of classic Ultima chaos. Let’s get into it:


Introducing: The Tension System

Welcome to a dynamic new layer of gameplay: World Tension.

Every time you slay a monster, the world remembers. Each kill now contributes to a global Tension meter. As tension climbs, so does the heat—bringing with it new dangers... and new rewards.

  • At mild levels, expect to see more Paragon monsters appearing across the world.
  • But we didn’t stop there—the Paragon System is getting a massive upgrade! Instead of one-size-fits-all, there are now 200 unique templates that Paragons can roll from. You’ll never know what terrifying twist you’re facing next—maybe it’s fire immunity, maybe it’s lifesteal, maybe it's teleporting blink strikes. You'll have to find out the hard way.

Minax’s Wrath Unleashed

When Tension crosses 10,000, it’s no longer business as usual. Minax’s forces will begin randomly invading Felucca towns.

And if adventurers let the meter climb to 100,000? Brace yourselves—for every Felucca city will come under siege.

You wanted a living world. Now you have one. Your actions matter, and Minax is watching.


Achievements & Sovereigns: Play Your Way

We’ve heard your cries for long-term goals—and we’re delivering in full.

Achievements are now live with hundreds of unique milestones across crafting, combat, exploration, and more. Each one you complete grants Sovereign Points for the UO Store, unlocking powerful rewards and cosmetics.

But here’s the real kicker:
Every quest NPC in the game now counts toward achievements. That’s right—every quest you complete is now doubly rewarding. So whether you're slaying demons or helping old farmers, you're climbing the achievement ladder.

And yes, we’ll be adding tons of new items to the store, so hoard those Sovereigns like a true Sosarian dragon.

Big Changes Are Here! Skill Codex Advancement & Stealing System Upgrades!

Greetings adventurers, thieves, and master crafters! Version 85 brings some game-changing updates to Shards of Minax, giving players new ways to progress and making the world even more immersive. Let’s dive into the details:


Skill Codex Advancement System!

A brand-new Skill Codex system has been introduced, allowing players to unlock unique abilities and passive talents for every skill in the game!

  • Each skill has its own codex, containing 30 upgrade nodes.
  • Nodes unlock new special abilities or passive effects (e.g., extra stealth steps for Stealth users).
  • Gain Codex XP by killing monsters, earning points to progress through your chosen skill trees.
  • Leveling formulas have been reworked, allowing for much higher max levels than before!
This means every skill—from Combat and Crafting to Utility and Magic—now has deeper progression than ever before!


️ Stealing System Overhaul! ️

Calling all thieves! The stealing system has received a massive upgrade to make crime more rewarding (and risky)!

  • Many shops and NPCs have had their inventories reworked to include rare, unique, and valuable items for skilled pickpockets.
  • New targets, better loot, and a higher risk-reward balance make stealing a viable profession.
Time to dust off those stealth skills and test your luck—but beware, the consequences for failure are still severe!

Greetings adventurers!

A brand new update has arrived for Shards of Minax, bringing exciting new features and improvements to enhance your gameplay experience. This update, Version 084, introduces an XP and leveling system, a revamped waypoint-based travel system, and improvements to levelable items. Let’s dive into the details!

New XP & Leveling System

One of the biggest changes in this update is the introduction of an XP and leveling system. Now, every time you slay a monster, you’ll earn XP and level up. With each level gained, you’ll receive 5 Maxxia Points, which work just like Maxxia Scrolls—allowing you to increase your skill and stat caps. This new system adds an extra layer of progression and power to your journey.

Omniteleporter Rework → Waypoint System

The Omniteleporter moongate system has been completely revamped into a new Waypoint system! All of the old teleportation locations still exist, but now you must physically find and activate them before they appear on your travel menu.

This means you’ll need to explore the world more than ever before, uncovering hidden locations, venturing into dangerous territories, and even purchasing a boat to reach some areas.

Additionally, accessing other facets (Malas, Tokuno, and Ilshenar) now requires Teleportation Runes, which can be purchased from map maker NPCs.

Levelable Items & Pet Combat XP

Levelable items now accumulate XP from monsters killed by your pets! Previously, only monsters personally slain by the player would contribute XP to these items. With this change, pet-focused characters will have a much smoother time leveling up their weapons, armor, and other gear.


This update brings deeper progression, more rewarding exploration, and improvements to core mechanics that will make Shards of Minax even more immersive. As always, your feedback is invaluable—so get out there, level up, explore, and let us know what you think!

The halls of Moonglow University have been graced by the arrival of the Ultimate Skill Masters! These wise mentors now offer skill-specific quests to help you train your abilities like never before. Whether you’re honing your combat prowess, magical expertise, or crafting talents, these masters have you covered.
A big thank you to Azrok for lending a hand in enhancing these scripts and making the masters even better!


Runaway Command Enhanced

Adventurers, your escape routes just got a major upgrade! The Runaway command now:

  • Creates a portal that allows you to return to the location you fled from.
  • Gathers all your pets, ensuring no loyal companion is left behind during your quick retreat.
This feature is a game-changer for navigating dangerous areas while keeping your pets safe!


Introducing Zana, the Master Cartographer

Head to Lord British’s Castle to meet Zana, a master cartographer exiled from Wraeclast, who has now made her home in Britannia. Zana sells magical maps that open portals to unique areas filled with challenging monsters and incredible treasures. These areas promise excitement for adventurers brave enough to explore them!


424 New Mythical Summoning Items

We’re introducing a huge treasure hunt for collectors and monster hunters alike! There are 424 new mythical items to discover, each allowing you to summon a specific monster.

  • To find these items, target-farm the monster you wish to summon.
  • Each monster has a 1 in 1000 chance to drop its own summoning item.

Advancement Gump Improvements

The Advancement Gump has been upgraded for a smoother and more intuitive experience. Once again, a huge shoutout to Azrok for making these improvements possible!


Expanded Spawns and Economy Upgrades

  • Malas: Spawn densities have been significantly increased, ensuring plenty of action for adventurers.
  • Exotic Fruits: These valuable commodities now sell for higher prices, giving gatherers a lucrative new opportunity.

Shards of Minax Update v0.81: The Malas Upgrade​


Greetings, adventurers! We are thrilled to announce the latest update to Shards of MinaxVersion 0.81: The Malas Upgrade. New Collectibles


  • Over 170 new rare plants and minerals are now scattered across Malas.
  • Players with high Taste Identification skill can harvest more from plants, while those with high Mining skill will gain more minerals.
  • Collected fruits and veggies can be:
    • Sold to farmers for gold.
    • Consumed to obtain seeds, which you can plant anywhere to grow more of the same plant.
    • Deconstructed with Imbuing to obtain basic magical crafting materials.

New Crafting System: The Transmutation Cauldron


Crafting enthusiasts rejoice! A new crafting system has been introduced, centered around the Transmutation Cauldron:


  • Where to get it: Purchase from an Alchemist or craft with the Tinkering skill.
  • Functionality: Use the cauldron and the Imbuing skill to perform alchemical transformations.

    • Imbuing Materials: Essential for advanced crafting.

Today is a rather huge update which adds the branching dialogue system to all of the NPCs in Shards of Minax! This includes over 700 NPCs with a branching dialogue! All of these NPCs have interesting things to say, but they will also ask you for certain items which you can exchange for Maxxia scrolls!

-All NPCs updated with the new dialogue system, thousands of new lines of dialogue!
-Felucca updated with over 200 new NPCs using this dialogue system

Update v07 Skills and Virtue Quests

Today is a HUGE update! I have added a skillbook for every single skill in the game, each with 16 individual skills! This means over 700 new skills added to the game. How do you obtain these new skill books? You must complete Virtue Quests in Ilshenar to collect Virtue Stones. Each new skill codex requires a combination of three different virtues. The quests are rather simple, this is for a beginner to get their new skill book.

Please note this is an alpha test of the new skills system, many are kind of janky and unbalanced! Thank you for helping us test 🙂

Other new features:
-Skill training now done via a special gump, simple type [advancement no need to use the vendors!
-Skill training vendors replaced with random quest NPCs who will give randomly generated quests in exchange for beginner Power Scrolls, Maxxia Scrolls, and gold.

This update introduces the Monster Hunter's Guild!
Located at Serpent's Hold in Trammel it contains 45 Quest NPCs each with a quest to hunt down 10 rare monsters each, for a total of 450 unique monsters! When you complete each monster hunters individual quest you gain access to their shop, which allows you to buy the exotic animals you hunted in your quest (you can just tame them in the wild, but they get angry like dragons). All new monsters can be found only in Felucca!

Each of the 450 Monsters has a unique move set of 3-4 powers and is registered with the pet taming system for training up to ten control slots! When you complete all 45 quests the Beast Master Malidrex the Witch give you access to her sooper dooper special beast shop where you can buy fully randomized pets generated by my random monster generator system.

Many misc bug fixes are also included in this patch!
