Apex Hunt is an automated hunting competition system for ServUO designed to bring excitement and activity to the wilderness. At regular intervals, the server picks a random creature from a tiered list along with a target kill goal and a time limit. Players across all eligible facets race against the clock to hunt down the declared monsters and claim gold bounties deposited directly into their banks.
The system is completely standalone and 100% drag and drop. You do not need to modify any core ServUO files, PlayerMobile, or BaseCreature. You simply place the folder inside your Scripts or Customs directory and start the server.
How the System Works for Players
Before each hunt begins, global announcements notify everyone on the server at ten minutes, five minutes, and one minute prior to the start. When the hunt launches, the target creature, required kill count, and time limit are broadcast.
During the event, players have an on-screen HUD displaying the target creature, required kill goal, personal kill count, the current leader, and remaining time. Players can minimize this HUD into a small compact bar or expand it at any time. The HUD cannot be accidentally closed, ensuring players always keep track of the hunt.
The first hunter to reach the kill goal triggers a sixty-second Tie Breaker countdown. During this final minute, other participants can still secure kills to challenge for first, second, or third place.
When the event concludes, winners are announced globally. Pure gold bounties are delivered directly into the bank boxes of the top three hunters, as well as active participants who met the minimum kill threshold. If a winning player is offline when the event finishes, their gold reward is saved and automatically delivered the next time they log in.
Anti-exploit protections are included: summoned, controlled, and bonded creatures do not count as valid targets, and kills inside guarded town regions are excluded. Hunting with your pets, summons, and hirelings works seamlessly and credits the player master.
Installation requires zero core edits: Extract the Apex Hunt folder and place it anywhere inside your Scripts directory, such as Scripts/Custom/ApexHunt. Restart or start your server. ServUO will automatically compile and initialize the system.
All options can be customized inside ApexHunt/Core/ApexHuntConfig.cs: You can adjust the event frequency, duration range, tie breaker duration, reward gold amounts for first, second, third, and participation, the participation threshold percentage, and the list of eligible facets. You can also add or remove creatures and adjust their required kill counts across four tiers: Swarm, Beasts and Elementals, High Threat, and Bosses.
All progress, active events, and pending offline rewards save automatically into Saves/ApexHuntEvent.bin during normal World Saves, surviving server restarts cleanly.
